The Fans Listen carefully before each home game and you will hear a rendition of Sunday Bloody Sunday by Irish Rock and Roll band U2.
God Bless U2 and that fateful date in the Montreal Olympic Stadium when their scheduled show coincided with an unexpected Montreal Alouette playoff football game. Until then the Als had only 6000 people attending the concrete cavern on Pierre de Coubertin Ave. The Als had a playoff game to play but nowhere to play. Suggestions of going to the vacant Lansdowne Park in Ottawa had been suggested, or play it in Vancouver against the Lions. It wasn't until President Larry Smith called out
"We're going back to Molson Stadium" that a burst of energy and vigor had been instilled into the Montreal football team. A reconnection to our Alouette past had begun. Flirtations with locations at Delormier Stadium, Autostade and Olympic Stadium, our re-born Als now had the chance to reconnect a new generation to it team's original roots. A new collection of fans would enjoy Canadian Football in Percival Molson Stadium as fans once did at the turn of the century.
We are just a few of those fans
